“I wish to have a gazebo”
The hot tub jets turn on, sending warm water bubbling up and creating an idyllic environment for 3-year-old Anna, who has a life-threatening seizure disorder, to enjoy. Even though it’s the middle of the harsh Michigan winter, Anna is soaking in her hot tub thanks to her wish for a gazebo that encloses her family’s hot tub.
Because of the generosity of Westview Manufacturing, Anna’s wish for a gazebo to house her hot tub was granted by Make-A-Wish Michigan to ensure her year-long enjoyment of the hot tub regardless of rain and snow.
Anna’s parents, Cindy and Nick, had seen positive results from the hot tub use in her therapy classes, so they purchased a hot tub for Anna, who is nonverbal, to use at home. When Anna’s wish-granting volunteers talked to her about swimming in the hot tub during her wish interview, she giggled, squirmed in her chair, laughed and overall just lit up.
This enthusiasm and love for the hot tub along with the therapeutic benefits that come with Anna swimming in the hot tub will now be possible all year due to the gazebo donation made by Westview Manufacturing.
A wish gives children like Anna renewed energy and strength, bringing families closer together. Whether it’s a week of nonstop rain or there are inches of snow on the ground, Anna and her family will be able to go into their new gazebo to enjoy the family’s hot tub together.
